With its steep curves rising up to 24 degrees on the turns, it’s among the highest-banked raceways anywhere in the world. Opened way back in 1969, “The Monster Mile” has been a cornerstone of NASCAR’s Sprint Cup Series since its birth, hosting two races each year. In September of 2014, the AAA 400 and the championship's best drivers made the annual trip to Dover for an elimination race in the Chase for the Sprint Cup. Nails were bitten and rubber got burned—it was a hell of a Sunday. 1 / 27The pit road, with car numbers.2 / 273 / 274 / 275 / 27The dashboard of Jeff Gordon's Chevrolet SS, with detached steering wheel.6 / 277 / 27Kasey Kahne8 / 27Kyle Busch9 / 27Joey Logano10 / 27Jeff Gordon11 / 2712 / 27Though Kevin Harvick (#4) was the eventual winner of the 2014 NASCAR Sprint Cup championship, his contention at Dover ended early, due to a flat.13 / 27Brad Keselowski14 / 27Brad Keselowski's pit crew hard at work.15 / 2716 / 2717 / 2718 / 2719 / 27Danica Patrick's pit crew, changing tires.20 / 27Ricky Stenhouse Jr. (#17) battling Joey Logano (#22)21 / 27Jeff Gordon, focused.
